Knitting & A Walk-Through in Madinah

🧶 As salaamu ‘alaykum السلام عليكم

Funny title huh?


🚶 Well it’s true, nowadays I have a new love and addiction of knitting. Along with that, I watch “virtual walk-throughs” of Madinah or other Islaamic parts of the world while knitting.


🧶 Sounds like a strange combination. Yet the level of peace that this has given me after a busy day is truly yet another delight from this Dunyaa that Allaah has blessed me with AlHamdulillaah.


🚶Allaah invited my family and I to Umrah so I know first hand the serenity of actually being there AlHamdulillaah. So as I watch the virtual walk-through, it’s as if I am there all over again.


🧶Mix that with the calmness of knitting and it’s over!!! 😂 (In a good way of course اللهم بارك).


🚶What’s the point? I encourage you productive Muslim women who are swamped with the many of affairs and responsibilities of this life to step out of grind mode and find your safe place.


🧶Outside of our foundational duties that also bring us a high level of happiness and peace such as our worship, it is imperative to do activities of self care and hobbies.


🚶It took me many years to learn this the hard way. But AlHamdulillaah my family inspired me and made me realize that I was burning myself out by way of not taking much needed breaks for wellness.


🧶Specifically our oldest daughter Jenna who kicked me out to the local knitting class 😂 . By the way you can find her latest publication here “ Muslimah Mukallaf. “ May Allaah bless her and all of you Aameen 🤲🏼.


🚶Anyhow, do something nice for yourself constructive and for your development that you truly enjoy In shaa Allaah. Something simple.


🧶This does NOT include:


❌Scrolling through your phone.

❌Spending unnecessary money on things that you don’t need.

❌Doing side work outside of your work 😭

❌Anything that takes more from you.


🚶This DOES include things such as:


🎐Taking walks in nature.

🎐Doing crafts like art, crochet, knitting, clay etc.

🎐Listening to positive content.

🎐Leisure reading & a cup of tea.

🎐Getting holistic treatments.

🎐Taking baths / soak your aching body.


🧶Find what works for you, we all have such varying personalities. So your interests are your own. After you find what works for you, ensure that you surround yourself with a community of positive people who are doing similar.
