🪷Umm WaraQah bint ‘Abdullaah bin Haarith AnSaariyyah رضي الله عنها was a learned, scholarly, pious, and modest lady.
🪷She was known amongst the women companions who spent her days and nights in salaah.
🪷She was also known for her beautiful Quraan recitation Maa shaa Allaah.
🪷She had thirst for knowledge in Quraan, sharee’ah, and Hadeeth.
🪷It was her dream and sincere desire to die as a martyr however, the prophet ﷺinformed her that she would in fact die as a martyr at home.
🪷No one knew how, when or the details but Umm WaraQah was so excited about this news and went home in prayer and patience to await her martyrdom.
🪷The prophet ﷺ and his companions held her in high esteem since she was known as the living martyr and they would offer duas and visit her.
🪷Umm WaraQah informed her two slaves (male and female) that upon her death they could be free.
🪷Time passed and the prophet ﷺ passed, Abu Bakr May Allaah be pleased with him passed, and then during the time of Omar رضي الله عنه a shift came.
🪷The two slaves of Umm WaraQah became tired of waiting on an old woman to die in order to attain freedom so they plotted to kill her in her sleep and they eventually did.
🪷The following morning when her neighbors didn’t wake to the sound of Umm WaraQahs blessed beautiful Quraan recitation they checked on her only to find her dead.
🪷They realized her slaves were missing and what must’ve happened so Omar ibn Al-Khattaab رضي الله عنه sent to search for them in which they were found and put to death for their crime.
🪷The prophet ﷺ was proved right and Umm WaraQah was martyred in her home.
🪷From this story and many other saHaabiyaat we learn the zeal and desire they had towards martyrdom as well as other acts of worship SubHaanAllaah. We look to ourselves today and have to ask which acts of worship do we have the strong desire to fulfill and act upon?
🪷We ask that Allaah be pleased with Umm WaraQah and increase us being sincere and righteous Aameen 🤲🏼 . Baarak Allaahu Feekum بارك الله فيكم
